"One of the
most valuable lessons you can learn from studying the
blues is how to phrase your leads. Whether you're
improvising over a power chord progression or a
repeating riff, the sense of phrasing you acquire from listening
to and playing the blues will help make your solo sound
more conversational. If you think about it, a lot of
metal riffs-- "Enter Sandman" is a prime
example-- are based on the minor blues scale.
